DISTRICT

Located in Central Texas, Leander Independent School District serves parts of Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Jonestown, and surrounding communities. The district stretches across almost 200 square miles, dedicated to knowing and appreciating each of its more than 42,000 students across 49 campuses. Leander ISD ranks as one of the largest employers in the area with an empowered workforce of more than 6,000 educators and support staff.

The District is committed to preparing students for future success by providing a high-quality education that emphasizes innovation, creativity, and critical thinking. Through academic excellence and exceptional extracurricular programs, Leander ISD has received national as well as state and local recognition.

Located in the northwest portion of Austin, Texas, Canyon Ridge Middle School is home to 889 students in Grades 6-8. Since its opening in 2004, Canyon Ridge has been recognized as one of the top middle schools in the state of Texas.  Not only does the school provide a solid educational program with opportunity for Pre-Advanced Placement and high school credit courses, but the campus hosts an award-winning performing arts program, an exceptionally strong athletics program, myriad extra-curricular activities, and a pre-engineering course of study.  Canyon Ridge has been designated as a “No Place for Hate” campus since 2004, and is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for students.  Our mission is to empower lifelong learners who cultivate their unique gifts and meaningfully contribute to their community by seeking solutions and embracing compassion. The teaching staff encourages students to be independent, productive, and ethical risk-takers.  At Canyon Ridge, students are expected to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, think critically, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
